I don't generally think much of Valentine's Day. Being a bit of a lone wolf I usually don't have a significant other to do the traditional V Day stuff with and frankly I doubt that I would even if I did. So my only real awareness of the holiday comes from the cheesy decorations, stuffed bears with big red bows, everything heart shaped, everything red & pink and way overpriced flowers everywhere. My best friend usually gives me a sweet card & sometimes a gift or flowers and this year another friend actually had flowers delivered to my door; I was so confused & it took a minute to register that they were actually for me and to remember that it's Valentine's Day weekend. I was overjoyed. Sometimes I feel a little bad that I usually don't think to do anything because I basically don't recognize it as a legitimate holiday.
Today however, I received the best Valentine's Day gift I could imagine. The opportunity to help someone in need through the healing power of unconditional love. I had been contacted by someone who has been going through a very tough time and was looking for some energy work. We were set up to do a session at my house this morning but this person ended up in a state of crisis & couldn't come to me but thankfully agreed to let me come to them. I am all too familiar with the frightening state that this person was in. I understand first hand how dark, chaotic, disconnected and scary the world can feel outside as well as inside oneself. I am grateful that currently my head is above water so that I was able to help this person. I had already cleared my energy through the practice of Authentic Movement which a wonderful healer, Germaine Fraser has just enlightened me to. I was feeling very connected to my deep inner self and very centered. I went to see this person and felt so grateful to be given the opportunity to bring love and healing energy into this persons home. I sat in this persons room with them and simply connected to my inner source and meditated on it's warmth, love, peacefulness and light. I allowed that connection to overtake me and radiate out through the room and envelop this person. I then did some hands on energy work until there was enough of a clearing that the persons energy had significantly shifted to a state of calmness.
Doing this type of work is a new thing for me. I have recently been exploring this level of healing with a few clients who have asked for it. It is a major shift from the deep intensive bodywork I do with most of my clients and I really really like it. We all have the ability to connect with our true inner self anytime we want but we often forget how. We're so focused on the physical object world around us and a false sense of self through the ego that we don't allow ourselves to see past that to the greater possibilities. We imprison ourselves with our limited perspectives. Our true inner selves is the source of all that is. It is pure light & pure love and it has incredible healing capabilities. To be given the opportunity to help someone today by connecting to my inner source & sharing the power of unconditional love is a true gift. This is what Valentine's Day means to me.
